MORE NEEDLES THE BETTER?

Usually, 3-10 needles are administered at one acupuncture session depending on different illnesses. Because most formula of point association is composed of less than 10 points, it is not required to put too many needles at one session. On the other hand, if exceeded numbers of acupoints were selected, certain unclear conflicts between their actions might occur. Accordingly, for point selection, less is more, namely use as few points as possible for each session. In a classical TCM book of Primer to Medicine, it was stated: “Only one prioritized needling required for each type of a hundred diseases, no more than four needling per disease and never allow needling on the whole body.”
