The International Institute of Systems Medicine (IISM) is a non-profit organization registered in WI, U.S.A that is dedicated to education and research in the fields of systems, integrative and holistic medicine. IISM has been leading the way in the advancement of modern medicine including TCM since the early 1990’s, and has formed a formidable TCM Expert Panel and Academic Advisory Committee consisting of many prestigious and renowned TCM doctors, professors and scientists worldwide.
Over the years, IISM has conducted a series of groundbreaking scientific studies in cutting-edge areas of TCM and has produced more than a dozen influential publications that have received high praise from experts in the field. From October 20–22, 2007, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) held an international conference in Beijing to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Dr. Jin, President of IISM and a global pioneer in systems theory and contemporary medical acupuncture, was invited to co-chair the Forum on Contemporary Acupuncture Mechanisms and Meridian Research. The session, centered around a systems biology theme, generated significant interest among attendees.
As a non-profit organization, IISM also strives to raise public awareness of TCM. Due to these efforts, in 2004, city governments across Wisconsin—including the Governor—issued proclamations establishing October 24 as “Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine。
